Sam Gray was born in Tokyo, Japan. He grew up surrounded by art objects from the Orient which influenced his concept of space, color and design. Since 1954, he has primarily resided in the Central Pennsylvania area.

Sam studied art at Kutztown University and later spent six years in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed in Scotland for four years. While in Scotland, he worked as a free-lance photographer for A&M Records. After discharge from the service, he began combining the photographic process with silk-screen printmaking. Sam has exhibited extensively throughout the northeastern states (No longer doing the art show circuit)

Upon taking an early retirement, he now has more time to pursue his passion for photography and other artistic endeavor.
